SERIES: MEMORY. Truth be told, though this has a date of "2019" the entire series was planned, designed, sketched and experimented with between the years of 2015 through 2018. It is a staunch rule of mine never to call a work "finished" until that particular frame has anchored the painting. And the frame was put around "The Boy and his Songs." In Jan 2019. The motifs of this larger work are childhood, my parents' record player (Philips), and the two stereo speakers. The sounds we hear growing up becomes our "sub-conscience".. I am "guilty as charged": I did not grow up with "beats". Nope, I grew up with lyrics and melody! The highest, the truest and yes, they are as lovely now as they were then! Their vast grandeur captivates me! Those marble voices of men and women gone "made me" who I am. And I will only and always will remain my childhood songs! Multilayered, organized, time-deferred oil painting. Though the medium is "pure oil", the inlay and relief are unique and sculptural. This work is prototypical of my style. The frame is carefully designed for elegance and simplicity. I take immense pain and pride to craft the perfect perimeter for my works. It becomes an integral and unmistakable part of my painting. The piece will come with unique provenance which includes a certificate of authenticity (with the watermark of the painting, signed and dated), a lovely piece of ekfrastic writing that details the feeling about the work and finally a hand written note to the collector. None can be duplicated and together guarantees the owner the eternal proof of this one of a kind artwork.
