Traumatized by the experience, he couldn&#8217;t paint for a few years. He moved to upstate New York, where his home became his canvas.\u00a0 Throughout, Scherer pairs two-dimensional artworks with tableaux of his own design. Here he displays various anatomical models of human hearts in front of an Andres Serrano photograph and a salvaged Ionic column.
