Take Andy Warhol, for instance. Not only did he question the very notion of what original art might be, he essentially mechanized its production. Yet today, anything he did (or didn&#8217;t do &#8211; at least not himself &#8211; as the case may be) instantly becomes a hot topic of conversation, and usually a hot commodity at the same time.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11162\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/walltowatch.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11162\" class=\" wp-image-11162 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/00001663-315x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11162\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andy Warhol image: walltowatch.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For instance, take his little known, &#8220;Athlete Series&#8221;. Commissioned for a single collector in the late 1970s and early 80s, this collection of ten works was produced using Warhol&#8217;s standard silk screening method. While the collection, currently valued at $10 million, have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-1212957\/Andy-Warhol-collection-worth-10m-stolen-millionaires-Los-Angeles-home.html\" target=\"_blank\">a sordid history of their own<\/a>, even the elements of their earliest beginnings are now considered art.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11163\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/walltowatch.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11163\" class=\" wp-image-11163 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/00001667-321x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11163\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andy Warhol image: walltowatch.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In order to create a silk screen, an image is &#8220;burned&#8221; to a screen using emulsion fluid. Warhol, who popularized the use of the process in fine art, often used polaroids that he shot himself as the base image. From time to time, his original photographs of celebrities, or in this case, sports stars, pop up and create a stir in the art world.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11164\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/walltowatch.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11164\" class=\" wp-image-11164 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/00001657-309x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11164\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andy Warhol image: walltowatch.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In 2009, that very thing happened with the &#8220;Athlete Series.&#8221; New York City&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.danzigerprojects.com\/current\/\" target=\"_blank\">Danziger Projects<\/a> put together a small show of just the original polaroids from that particular cycle of work \u2013 elevating the artist&#8217;s materials to the status (if not also the value) of the final products. If only Warhol had known.
